Dr. Kalpna Varshney

Dr. Varshney completed an undergraduate degree in biology and psychology at McMaster University (Hamilton) in 1991, and then attended The New England College of Optometry (Boston). She graduated with honours from the program in 1995. During her graduate studies, she participated in internships with the Brighton Veteran’s Hospital (Boston), the Baranet-Dulaney Refractive, Cataract, and Glaucoma Specialty Clinic (Phoenix), and The Joslin Diabetes Centre (Boston) where she worked closely with ophthalmologists and top researchers. Dr. Varshney has completed all of the US and Canadian certification exams including the “Treatment, Diagnosis, and Management of Ocular Disease” examination.

Dr. Varshney has used her extensive clinical training to serve the Burlington community since 1995. In 2009, she relocated from a Mapleview Centre office she operated in partnership with her sister (Dr. Malini Varshney) to her current office at Brant Street and Plains Road (map link).

Dr. Varshney is committed to continuing education, and stays on top of the latest developments in optometry practice and research. She is dedicated to her patients and greatly enjoys the opportunity to interact with them on a daily basis.  Dr. Varshney also enjoys giving back to the community by dedicating a portion of her time at Billings Court Manor senior care centre located in Burlington, Ontario.

Born in Prince George, British Columbia, Dr. Varshney has lived in many different parts of Canada including Bathurst, New Brunswick and Elliot Lake, Ontario. Recently, Dr. Varshney was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in May 2010 by the Ontario Association of Optometrists for her dedicated service in advocacy of eye health. She is currently an active member of the Ontario and Canadian Association of Optometrists and Eye Recommend™.


Christina has been working with Dr. Varshney for over 6 years. She brings her wealth of experience to Varshney Optometry in helping manage the practise. In particular, she enjoys the entire process of frame selection for the eyeglass dispensary and fitting patients with the best possible eyewear. She recently completed her certification as an optometric assistant.

In addition, Varshney Optometry has a staff of friendly and knowledgeable assistants to ensure the office runs with ease and efficiency.
